O'Driscoll points to team ethic

DoncasterSean O'Driscoll has urged his promotion-winning Doncaster players to rise to the challenge of Championship football.

The Keepmoat Stadium boss has overseen a gruelling start to pre-season training in advance of the opener on August 9, and, rather than freeze, O'Driscoll has urged his players to learn from the success enjoyed by Bristol City and seize the initiative.

"We don't want to go into the Championship being naive," O'Driscoll told the official club website.

"I think we are trying to be realistic without being negative. It's a big jump financially and we've found that out already, but we've got a team who have played together and we've got a good reputation of trying to do the right thing.

"It could be a bit of struggle but the likes of Bristol City have pointed the way last year and showed you what a bit of confidence and a bit of belief can do.

"We have a group of players who came to Doncaster really to play in the Championship and now they've got that opportunity so there's a great challenge for them all."
