Doncaster are trying to negotiate a longer stay at the Keepmoat Stadium for on-loan Preston striker Iain Hume.

Hume's deal with Rovers runs until January but manager Dean Saunders is keen to either extend that until the end of the season, or do a permanent deal for the 29-year-old Canada international.

"We are negotiating with Preston over Iain Hume but there is no major rush because he is with us until January anyway," said Saunders.

"We are trying to get him signed up either until the end of the season or on a proper contract. His agent and the two clubs are talking at the moment."
