Rovers take on Ameobi

Tomi Ameobi has been taken on trial by newly-promoted Doncaster Rovers as Sean O'Driscoll tries to strengthen his squad.

Tomi, the brother of Newcastle's Shola Ameobi, is currently contracted to local rivals Leeds United but spent last season on loan at Scunthorpe where he made nine appearances.

Ameobi has just returned from RAF Cottesmore where Rovers have been training for the new season and assistant manager Richard O'Kelly said the striker had done "very well".

Ameobi could take part in Doncaster's pre-season game against his former club Scunthorpe on Saturday.
