Striker signs Rovers deal

DoncasterFormer Aston Villa and Rotherham striker Darren Byfield has joined Doncaster on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old was one of several players released by Bristol City at the end of last season and will now move to the Keepmoat Stadium on a two-year contract.

After a season of mainly substitute appearances for the Robins last season, Byfield will be looking to establish himself in the Rovers first-team.

Speaking to the club's official site, Byfield said: "I'm delighted to have signed and I'm really looking forward to it.

"Donny being in the Championship is a big thing and, with the football that is being played here, I wanted to be a part of it."
