We're no whipping boys - Richie

DoncasterRovers midfielder Richie Wellens says Doncaster are not the division's whipping boys, despite their lowly league position.

Wellens feels his team are just not getting the breaks at the moment and revealed how Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws complimented them at the weekend.

"People will see us down at the bottom with just nine points and having lost again against Wednesday and will have thought that we are the league's whipping boys, but we are not," he told The Sheffield Star.

"Their manager (Laws) was saying 'well done' to all the lads as we came off; I think that he was slightly embarrassed that they had won the game.

"The second half was unbelievable. I don't know what percentage of possession we had, but I don't think that they got into our box more than twice.

"We created a lot of chances and if one of them had gone in we'd probably have gone on to win the game. We may be bottom but if you look at our second-half performance I don't think that anyone could have questioned any of the players in terms of enthusiasm and commitment."
