Wellens agres new Rovers deal

DoncasterMidfielder Richie Wellens has boosted Doncaster by agreeing to sign a new three-year deal with the Championship new-boys.

The 28-year-old former Manchester United trainee joined Rovers on a free from Oldham Athletic last summer and scored six goals in 45 league appearances as Rovers won promotion from League One to the Championship via the play-offs.

Wellens told the club's website: "It's a club that is going places and I was more than happy to sign on an extra two years to my current deal. The way we play football is one of the main reasons that I wanted to stay.

"The manager is great in getting us to play the way that he wants us to play, he understands players very well. I am more than happy here."
