Wellens to have surgery

Doncaster midfielder Richie Wellens will undergo groin surgery next week and is expected to be sidelined for a month.

The former Manchester United trainee had a hernia operation in the summer, but manager Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed that Wellens has been unable to fully shake off the problem.

"His groin didn't respond to treatment and so he'll have surgery next week," said O'Driscoll.
