Wilson reveals Rovers' pull

DoncasterDoncaster midfielder Mark Wilson admits he would have re-signed even if Rovers had not won promotion to the Championship.

The 29-year-old was attracting interest this summer before pledging his future by penning a new two-year deal.

And Wilson claims second-tier football was not the only reason he decided to stay on at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He told the club's website: "I'm happy to have signed so that I can continue playing for Doncaster Rovers.

"It was more of a case of the environment and the people that I'm surrounded by, as opposed to the lure of Championship football."

He added: "Even if we'd stayed in League One last season, I'd have been more tempted to stay put - whether Championship clubs came in for me or not."
