Daly deserves credit - Levein

Dundee UtdDundee United manager Craig Levein believes striker Jon Daly deserves "loads of credit" for finally shaking off his injury problems.

Levein revealed he did doubt whether Daly would be up to the task of making a complete recovery from a spate of injuries, but is delighted to see him back in action.

"Jon had a few serious problems and, hand on heart, I didn't know if I could rely on him to be fit for the whole year," Levein told The Courier.

"That is why I deliberately overloaded on strikers in the summer.

"The good thing is that we now have good players who can't even get in the team.

"Jon is a physical boy who puts in a great shift and who has also added goals to the team now.

"Over the last five or six weeks he has really started to get back to where he was before his injuries.

"He got his chance because Warren Feeney got injured playing for Northern Ireland and he has certainly taken it.

"He deserves loads of credit for the way he has handled himself over the last 18 months and the amount of hard work he has put in."
