Defender bemoans football changes

Dundee UtdLee Wilkie believes the physical nature of football is being phased out of the game and has questioned the changes being made.

Dundee United suffered at the hands of the stricter regulations on Saturday, when Roy O'Donovan was sent off against Falkirk for what Craig Levein described as an 'aggressive tackle'.

Wilkie also feels he was on the receiving end of some unfavourable decisions in the 0-0 draw.

The defender said: "In the first half there was a 50-50 tackle I went into and deliberately never put my studs up and I got a foul given against us, so it's a bit frustrating.

"When you've played for a while and are used to going into tackles with nothing dirty about them, just 50-50 tackles, those will just go out the game and in a few years' time I can see us not being allowed to slide tackle. It's getting a bit silly."
