Levein relieved by tribute win

Dundee UtdCraig Levein praised his Dundee United players for securing an emotional 2-0 win against St Mirren as a tribute for Eddie Thompson.

The Terrors boss put his team out at Tannadice on Saturday for the first time since the club's popular chairman lost his battle against cancer.

And he was pleased that goals from loan man Roy O'Donovan and Craig Conway secured a fifth straight win in front of an emotional crowd of over 11,000.

"Obviously I'm relieved, but I'm quite settled now that it was the right conclusion," Levein said.

"There is an element of closure now. There has been a wave of emotion before and after the funeral. The victory kind of just makes it all right.

"I can put it to the back of my mind. Since the chairman's death, it's been the only thing I have been thinking about.

"I made a deal with myself that if we won, I'll lighten up a bit."
