Dundee United say they will be putting more emphasis on bringing through youngsters and will change their approach at youth level.

The Terrors have recently appointed 22-year-old Ian Cathro as part of the club's youth coaching staff at Tannadice, with the new man looking to develop stars of the future.

With the current financial plight, which now appears to be hitting football hard, the youth set-ups are more crucial than ever.

Speaking to the BBC, Cathro said: "We've got to ensure that up until age 13, kids are gaining as much technical input as possible.

"It's all about change in approach and a change in culture - of the way we want to develop players."
