Manchester City are considering allowing England midfielder Gareth Barry to leave the club with Everton lining up a loan deal.
Manuel Pellegrini left Barry out of his squad for their final warm up game last week against Arsenal and it would appear he prefers Yaya Toure and new signing Fernandinho as his first-choice central midfielders, with Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia as back-up.
Barry has apparently been told his first-team opportunities will be limited at the Etihad this season and he is therefore allowed to move on.
Roberto Martinez is said to be keen on taking the 32-year-old, who has not yet given up hope of fighting his way back into the England set up for next summer's World Cup, presuming they qualify of course.
