Everton are leading the chase to sign Rennes midfielder Stephane M'Bia after making the highest offer of just over £10m.
Marseille have offered Rennes a deal for the Cameroon international, however, thought to be worth £7.6m, but Everton remain the favourites as their bid is comfortably the highest.
The French side are in no rush to complete any deal, however, and are still holding out for a big bid from Manchester City for the player as they look to generate as much cash as possible.
Rennes general manager, Pierre Dreossi, said, "Marseille's offer is lower than the English one.
"There is no hurry. No deadline has been set for the transfer.
"We will sell to whoever offers the best price."
