Everton are locked in battle with arch rivals Liverpool for the services of Chesterfield's highly rated midfielder Tendayi Darikwa.
The 21-year-old winger has caught the attention of watching scouts with his excellent progress through the Chesterfield youth ranks and both Merseyside clubs are not alone with numerous other Premier League clubs interested in him.
Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner is expecting offers in the region of £2m and Turner has confirmed that Liverpool and Everton have sent scouts to watch the youngster.
"Tendayi is a fantastic talent and we would never stand in the way of a player from moving to a Premier League club," Turner said.
"A lot of top clubs have been tracking him for quite a while and it is no surprise - Tendayi is a player with exceptional potential who deserves to play at the very top.
"We had this situation with Jordan Bowery in the summer when he moved to Aston Villa - Chesterfield is a great place for young players to improve and show people what they can do.
"If a bid were to come we would of course sit down and discuss it."
