Boss to ink new deal

EvertonEverton boss David Moyes has revealed he is close to finally signing a new contract and could even put pen to paper this weekend.

There had been fears Moyes would walk away from Goodison Park over a lack of funding but the Toffees boss has ended the speculation by saying he will sign a new deal.

It has been a tough two weeks for the Blues - having been dumped out of the Carling Cup by Blackburn, beaten in the Mersey derby against Liverpool and seeing their European dreams ended by Standard Liege in Belgium.

But it appears the speculation over Moyes' future is over as he says he will agree a contract over the weekend.

He told the Liverpool Daily Post: "I am here. I will sign a contract with Everton very shortly, maybe before the weekend. Things are with the lawyers.

"The board's ambitions are as high as mine. The one thing that I have had is fantastic backing from Bill Kenwright.

"Every penny he's been able to give me, he has done so. I can say that sincerely. I can't ask for anymore."

He added: "Bill has quite openly said that if he can get some backing, then it would be a help. I'm sure he means a help for the team and a help for the club in general."
