Boss reacts to quit talk

EvertonDavid Moyes has insisted he will not walk away from Everton but refused to say when he will sign a new contract.

Moyes' side were dumped out of the Uefa Cup on Thursday when they lost 2-1 at Standard Liege in their second leg clash in Belgium.

Speculation has been rife in the past few months that the Blues boss is close to signing a new, long-term deal at Goodison Park but he has so far failed to put pen to paper.

However, speaking after the defeat against Liege, Moyes insisted he wants to stay at the club but did not reveal when he would finally sign.

He said: "There's no manager who thinks they have an easy ride. That's part of it. But I want to stay.

"There might be a timescale, something might happen."

Moyes admits he has had a difficult time as Everton boss recently but refused to be too downhearted.

He added: "Who says when you come into football management that every year you're going to have a good year?

"We have had tough tests - all managers face difficult times, and I have had some. No one has a divine right to win football games. You have to earn the right to do so.

"Managers can get into situations where it can be hard, and I have had it before. That's your job."
