Lorient defender Bruno Manga is the latest name to be linked with a possible move to Everton with talk of a £4m deal being mooted.
New manager Roberto Martinez has yet to make his first foray into the transfer market since stepping into David Moyes' shoes earlier this month, but defensive reinforcements seem to be figuring highly on his list of priorities.
A number of French-based defenders have already been suggested as potential targets including Bordeaux's Lamine Sane in the wake of Martinez's appointment, while a raid on his former club Wigan can't be ruled out for Antolin Alcaraz.
The Spaniard is known to have been keeping tabs though on Manga for some time and actually wanted to pair the 24-year-old up with Alcaraz at the DW Stadium, according to the French news agency L'Equipe.
The Gabon international centre-back, who joined Lorient in 2010, is known to be interested in a move to the Premier League, so a deal could be on the cards.
