Defender blow for Moyes

Everton have suffered a blow on the injury front with the news that Leighton Baines is likely to miss the remainder of the campaign.

The England defender was substituted towards the end of the FA Cup semi-final defeat last weekend with a hamstring tear, but it was thought he would be fit for the clash at Manchester United this weekend, that now looks highly unlikely.

The absence of the almost ever-present Baines will be a big blow for Moyes, who does not have a natural replacement for him in his ranks - Phil Neville may get the call this weekend against his former club.

The injury is a grade two tear for the 27-year-old and that normally means up to a month on the sidelines, which in turn would mean his season would be over.
