Everton have confirmed that on-loan defender Shane Duffy will stay on at Championship side Yeovil Town for the rest of the season.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has been at Huish Park since the end of September and has impressed for the Glovers in the second tier.

He has made 14 appearances for them so far and has been an integral member of Gary Johnson's side.

He is currently on an emergency loan deal that expires on Friday so he would be forced to return to Goodison Park after that.

However, all parties have agreed to extend his stay and he will sign a new loan agreement on New Year's Day for the rest of the season.

Duffy, who has made 10 Everton first-team appearances, has also been given permission to play in the FA Cup for Yeovil ahead of their third-round tie against League One side Leyton Orient in the first week of January.
