Loan signing Gerard Deulofeu will not feature in Saturday's friendly at Blackburn but fellow Everton new-boy Arouna Kone should play.
Highly-rated Deulofeu has joined the Blues from Barcelona for the season in a deal which has excited the club's fans but he has only just begun
pre-season training after a busy summer with Spain Under-20s and this weekend's trip to Ewood Park will come too soon for him.
It is expected the 19-year-old could instead make his debut against Italian giants Juventus in San Francisco in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday as Roberto Martinez looks forward to working with the teenager, who is tipped to be a real star of the future.
"Gerard Deulofeu arrived yesterday and it will be very difficult for him to be involved against Blackburn," Martinez told the Liverpool Echo.
"He is a young man and has been working during the pre-season in the Under-20s World Cup so he is not going to be far away from joining the group.
"I would say the Juventus game is more realistic for Gerard. He had his first session yesterday. He is a young man so has the ability to be introduced into the group quicker than older players would but the US tour is probably more realistic for Gerard."
Deulofeu was linked with Liverpool and Spurs before Everton secured his services and, after scoring 18 goals for Barca's B team last season, much is expected of him in the Premier League.
Martinez added: "He is already fulfilling expectations of an older player and that creates an awe. And to score 18 goals in the Barcelona second team at his age shows the potential of the player.
"Everyone feels he will be ready one day to play for the first team at Barcelona. So when you get a player like that it is going to set that excitement off."
Kone is expected to play against Rovers as he gets up to speed at his new club following his move from Wigan earlier this summer, while other new signings Antolin Alcaraz and Joel Robles, along with Johnny Heitinga and Nikica Jelavic, should all also feature.
