Everton look set to offer Sylvain Distin a new contract to keep him at the club and put off the likes of West Ham and QPR who want him.

The France ace is out of contract at the end of the season and has attracted interest from the Hammers and the Hoops, but David Moyes has no intention of allowing him to leave and hopes to have him tied down to a new deal as soon as possible.

Distin joined the club from Portsmouth back in 2009 for £5m and has made 135 appearances.

He has appeared in all but three Premier League games this season having been preferred to Johnny Heitinga as first-choice centre-back partner for Phil Jagielka.
