Dutch ace linked to Everton

Last Updated: Wed, 11 Jun 2014 08:57

Roberto Martinez is trying to land young Heerenven midfielder Hakim Ziyech ahead of the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Ajax.

The Everton boss is looking to add quality to his squad over the summer, especially in midfield where he is short of bodies, and he has had the 21-year-old watched on a number of occasions.

The midfielder was so impressive for the Dutch Under-21 side that he was widely tipped to make their full squad for the World Cup but in the end just missed out.

He has one-year left on his current contract and Martinez is hoping that an offer in the region of £2.5m will be enough to land him ahead of Eredivisie giants Ajax and PSV.
