Everton have joined Manchester United and Real Madrid in the race to sign Sevilla's Spanish Under-21 left back Alberto Moreno.
Scouts from Everton, United and Celtic were at the Europa League match between Estoril and Sevilla on Thursday to watch the 21-year-old defender.
United and Everton both had scouts in Israel this summer for the European Under-21 Championships where Moreno was part of the Spanish side that swept the competition aside and earned the left back a spot in the official team of the tournament.
Everton are worried about losing Leighton Baines to United in the January transfer window after he expressed a desire to leave in the summer while United appear to be planning for a long-term successor to Patrice Evra.
However, Real Madrid have also been linked to Moreno and could be ready to move if they sell Portuguese left back Fabio Coentrao - whom United tried to land on transfer deadline day.
Sevilla held positive talks with Moreno's agent about a contract extension this week and hope to make further progress at a meeting with his representative on Monday.
