Everton boss Roberto Martinez is said to be looking at making a move for Valencia midfielder Carles Gil in the summer.

The 21-year-old has yet to play for Valencia but he has impressed whilst out on loan at Elche where he has had two seasons on loan and has come to the attentions of a number of clubs, including Everton.

Martinez has apparently targeted the Spanish Under-21 star as one to add to his midfield next summer but with his club reluctant to sell they may miss out.

There is the possibility of trying to get Gil on a season-long loan deal in the same vein as Gerard Deulofeu who has been at the club from Barcelona all season.

Everton may be able to keep the Barca youngster for a further year although he himself believes he is ready to try and fight his want into the Catalans' first team.
