Everton reportedly view Wigan boss Roberto Martinez as their top choice to replace David Moyes as manager.
Moyes has now joined Manchester United but Everton appear to be in no rush to appoint a successor.
The latest reports suggest that Martinez is their first choice but the Spaniard's future at Wigan remains unclear.
Martinez is considering his future following Wigan's relegation from the Premier League and has asked club chairman Dave Whelan to give him more time to make a decision.
Everton are happy to wait until Martinez makes an announcement on his plans before making a move, although they are thought to face competition from Stoke City for the Latics boss and if the Potters do make a bid, Everton are expected to launch a rival offer in a bid to win the battle for his services.
