Everton starlet Ross Barkley has admitted he is desperate for Manchester United target Leighton Baines to stay at Goodison Park.
Baines is wanted by former Blues boss David Moyes at Old Trafford and the Premier League champions have already had one bid, thought to be £12million, turned down.
However, they are expected to raise their offer and hope to lure the England left-back away from Merseyside this month.
Barkley, who has recently been in Turkey with the England U20's, wants the former Wigan full-back to stay after admitting Baines is a great role model for the young players at Everton.
Speaking to reporters in Turkey, Barkley said: "I've been following what is happening at Everton and I desperately want Leighton to stay.
"He's someone I look up to, a role model in how he conducts himself and the strides he has made is his career."
