Jags out for Blues

Everton will be without central defender Phil Jagielka for the home clash with Manchester City on Saturday as he has an ankle injury.

Everton will be desperate to get back to winning ways at home after last week's miserable effort against Wigan and City could be the opponents they need as they have won six and lost just one of the last eight games against them on home soil.

Jagielka will be replaced by either John Heitinga or Shane Duffy, either of whom will partner Sylvain Distin at the back.

In goal Tim Howard has a back problem and is likely to miss out with Jan Mucha ready to replace him again.

Defender Tony Hibbert remains out of action with his calf problem.
