Loan star set for Everton return

Last Updated: Thu, 13 Feb 2014 14:14

Barcelona have reportedly told Everton they can keep current loan star Gerard Deulofeu at Goodison Park for another season.

Italian giants AC Milan were thought to be keen on the youngster, but Barca are impressed with his progress he has made under Roberto Martinez and want him to stay under his tutelage.

Talks about a new loan deal on Merseyside are expected to take place between the two clubs in the summer and Everton will be keen to strike a deal with the Catalan giants.

The 19-year-old has missed the past couple of months with a hamstring injury, but could return to action in this weekend's FA Cup fifth-round tie at home to Swansea.

Deulofeu returned to the bench in last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Tottenham, having been sidelined since mid-December, but his hopes of a return to the starting line-up were thwarted by the weather on Wednesday, when the Blues' game with Crystal Palace was called off.
