Queens Park Rangers are reported to have joined Everton and a host of other clubs in the race to sign Gareth Barry.
The 33-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, has been released by Manchester City having come to the end of his contract with the club.
Barry was an ever-present for the Citizens since arriving at the Etihad back in 2009 and was a major part of the team that won the title in the 2011-12 campaign, making 34 appearances in the league that term.
The midfielder found himself slipping down the pecking order after this though and first-team opportunities were limited for the remainder of his time at the club.
Barry impressed last season when on-loan at Everton and manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly looking to sign the ex-Aston Villa skipper on a permanent deal, with the lure of European football a potential influencing factor.
There has been no deal made yet though and QPR boss Harry Redknapp is looking to snap up the midfielder as the newly promoted side look to add some experience to their squad for the new campaign.
Premier League club Stoke City are also said to be interested as Mark Hughes looks to reunite himself with Barry.
