Everton boss David Moyes has hailed the impact of his January additions to the side, in particular striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatian striker was on target for Moyes' side in the first half against Sunderland on Tuesday and he was the architect of Everton's second when he promoted David Vaughan to put through his own net.

The striker was one of a number of new arrivals in January that have helped turn around the form of the side and Moyes is delighted with him and his new team-mates.

Moyes said: "I think he has played very well. He looks hungry, he looks like a centre-forward, and we have missed that.

"The boys like him. They like the way he plays, they like his style.

"He and Darron Gibson, Steven Pienaar and Landon Donovan came in January, and we have been able to pick up a little bit from that."
