Toffees handed tough Standard test

Everton will face Belgian outfit Standard Liege in the first round of the UEFA Cup following the first round draw on Friday.

In a crazy twist of fate David Moyes' side must now face the same side which almost ended Merseyside rivals Liverpool's hopes of securing a place in the group stage of the Champions League in the qualifying round, before going out 1-0 on aggregate at Anfield on Wednesday.

It will be a tough challenge for the Toffees to make it into the group stage of the UEFA Cup this term as they must hope to do well in their first leg at Goodison Park which will be taking place on Thursday September 18, before the away tie in Belgium a fortnight later on October 2.
