Everton are nearing a deal for Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira and his signing could spark Leighton Baines' exit from Goodison.
Spanish newspaper Marca have suggested that talks are at an advanced stage for the Brazilian-born defender who began his professional career in Italy with Udinese.
Siqueira is able to operate in a flat back four or as a wing-back in Roberto Martinez's preferred formation from his Swansea and Wigan days.
It is thought the two clubs have agreed a fee worth just over £5m for the 27-year-old who has got better and better during his three-year stay in Spain.
Everton have previously insisted that Baines isn't for sale, despite talk of a £12m bid from his former manager David Moyes at Manchester United.
However, the rumours are continuing to persist and with United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward announcing his intention to leave the Premier League champions' pre-season tour of Australia to conclude some transfer business, the timing may be significant.
