Toffees not for sale

An Everton spokesmen has denied the club are for sale after reports had suggested a deal with a foreign owner was close to being done.

Reports yesterday indicated that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright had flown abroad to discuss the potential sale of the club.

However a spokesmen for the Toffees has come out to play down any suggestions the club are about to be sold, insisting that there were no new developments surrounding the future of the club.

"Contrary to this afternoon's media reports, the club is not on the verge of being sold," a spokesman said on the club's official website.

"Mr Kenwright spent this afternoon in his London office."
