Manchester Utd may still move for midfielder Marouane Fellaini but they will have to come up with more than his £23m buy out clause.
The Belgium midfielder had the clause inserted into his contract but it was time restricted and that period has now run out so Everton would not be forced to sell.
United, under former Everton boss David Moyes, have made an offer for Leighton Baines which was nowhere near big enough to persuade Roberto Martinez to sell.
Now if they want Fellaini they may have to fork out around £30m to land him and that is also unlikely to happen.
