Everton winger Seamus Coleman will miss the start of the season and is thought to have sustained ankle ligament damage on Friday.
It was at first feared that the Republic of Ireland striker had broken his leg or foot when he was the victim of a crude tackle from Valencia's Carlos Marchena but x-rays have revealed that is not the case.
The Republic of Ireland star is set for a further scan on the injury on Monday and ankle ligament damage is expected when the results are out.
Hopefully Coleman will not be out for too long, he would have missed the opening day of the season anyway as he is suspended following his sending off against Chelsea at the end of last season.
