Exeter boss Paul Tisdale believes tough-tackling midfielder Tommy Doherty has been showing supporters the other side of his game in recent weeks.

The veteran midfielder, known for his hard work and his break-up play, grabbed his second assist in as many matches in Friday night's victory over Accrington as he teed up Jimmy Keohane's first of the evening.

And that contribution came six days after his defence-splitting pass set up Jamie Cureton's opener at Morecambe.

"He is a very good passer of the ball and he sees a forward pass and the subtlety of the play and the movement of the players as well as anyone," Tisdale told Press Association Sport.

"We know he is a good footballer and it is nice to have someone who is such a good passer but also so competitive and determined in the loose ball as Tommy is.

"It is a nice combination, I know what Tommy is capable of and he is certainly showing that."
