Former Falkirk boss John Hughes has moved quickly to take midfielder Patrick Cregg to Hibernian.

Hughes departed the Bairns for the Easter Road hot seat earlier this month and he has returned to his old club to take the 23-year-old Irish midfielder with him.

Cregg, who joined from Arsenal and made over 100 appearances for Falkirk, is joining Hibs on a free contract.

He told his new club's official website: "I loved working with the gaffer at Falkirk, so to be joining him at a club the size of Hibernian is a great opportunity for me."

Hughes added: "Patrick loves getting on the ball and has loads of energy, he's just the sort of player I want at the club.

"He has his best years in front of him and will thrive on the big stage at Easter Road."
