New Falkirk manager Eddie May faces a fight to keep goalkeeper Dani Mallo as he wants to follow former boss John Hughes to Hibernian.
May was officially unveiled as the Bairns new boss on Tuesday and he leads the new management team with Steven Pressley and Alex Smith assisting the former youth development coach. However his first task will be to try and sort out the future of Mallo in the coming week.
The 30-year-old former Deportivo La Coruna shot-stopper enjoyed an impressive six months with the Bairns after linking up with them in January. He helped them avoid relegation from the SPL and was part of the side which lost out to Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Cup final in May.
Mallo's contract at Falkirk expires at the end of this month and he would be free to leave the club for pastures new. And, with Hughes on the look out for a new custodian after moving to Edinburgh from the Bairns' hot seat recently, the Spanish keeper is hoping he gets the chance to follow him.
He said: "Hibs are a great club with history and passion and the coach already knows me."
