Cash the key to Jimmy deal

FulhamRoy Hodgson claims he has no intentions of selling Jimmy Bullard but says finances mean he has not been offered a new Fulham deal.

The Cottagers boss has spoken out to clear up the mystery surrounding the future of the midfielder, who has two more seasons left on his current deal at Craven Cottage.

Former club Wigan are just one of the sides being linked with a swoop for Bullard's services, but Hodgson says they want to keep the player. The former Blackburn boss also revealed that he has not been offered a new contract this summer simply because the money has gone on team rebuilding.

"We have no intention of selling him, no desire - we would like Jimmy to stay," Hodgson said.

"Given the amount of money given to the club by (chairman) Mr Al Fayed, we're reluctant to start re-signing contracts that have got two years to go.

"Jimmy understands that. This summer Jimmy's been told the club is not prepared to renegotiate."
