Cottagers in for Swede

FulhamFulham have joined the race to sign Johan Elmander but Bolton expect to wrap up a deal for the striker by the end of the week.

The Trotters have been chasing the Sweden international since January and are locked in talks with the player and Toulouse officials in the hope of wrapping up a deal for the 27-year-old.

The Cottagers are believed to have made a late move to hijack the bid but Bolton are well down the road with negotiations after chairman Phil Gartside jetted out to France this week to conclude a deal.

Bolton are still haggling over the fee, thought to be in the region of £11million, but both clubs are waiting to see if Trotters forward Danny Braaten can agree a deal to move in the opposite direction.

If a deal can be concluded it will smash Bolton's transfer record and take Gary Megson's spending for the summer to over £15million.
