Davies prepared to stand down

FulhamFulham's Welsh Footballer of the Year Simon Davies says he would not mind giving up the Wales captaincy to Craig Bellamy.

The 28-year-old was proud to lead his nation in the 2-1 World Cup qualifying loss away to Russia last month.

But Bellamy returns after injury for Saturday's match with Liechtenstein in Cardiff and then the trip to Germany.

"I have loved every minute of being captain and been proud to stand in for Craig, who's a great skipper," said the 53-cap midfielder.

"It is a shame we have not had Craig around for the last few games but captaining is the best honour you can get.

"I loved every minute and if the time ever comes around that I need to do it again, I will be there."
