Dowie praise for AJ

FulhamQPR coach Iain Dowie has challenged Dexter Blackstock to build on his start to the season after comparing him to Fulham's Andy Johnson.

Dowie managed Johnson at Crystal Palace when the Eagles climbed out of the Championship in 2004 and has seen similar qualities in Blackstock, who hit a brace in the 4-1 Southampton win.

"Andrew Johnson has an innate ability and Dexter is the same," said Dowie. "All I'm doing is trying to get the best out of him but if he continues to develop he can be a very good centre-forward."

Blackstock's double took his tally to five in six matches and Dowie thinks he has a real platform to build on.

"Dexter should be delighted with his goal return, and I liked the second goal - it was a confident finish of a man in form. He's in a good vein of form and he should enjoy it," he added.
