Dynamo Moscow have joined Fulham in the race to sign Ajax's Finland international central defender Niklas Moisander.

The Russian club have turned their attention to Moisander after they failed to lure Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk from Celtic.

Dynamo were ready to pay Celtic's £7million asking price for van Dijk but he is refusing to move to eastern Europe.

Now they have turned to Moisander, who has already been replaced at Ajax a matter of weeks after he won his second straight Dutch title with the club.

Ajax snapped up AZ star Nick Viergever who will now follow in the Finn's footsteps by joining the Amsterdam club from Alkmaar.

The 28-year-old Moisander has one year left on his Ajax contract and was linked with a shock switch to relegated Fulham last week.
