Fulham's £12million signing Kostas Mitroglou is seeing a specialist in Italy over his knee injury amid fears his season could be over.
The Greece international hitman could even miss the World Cup with a knee problem that he picked up in training last month.
The former Olympiakos star is now undergoing physical therapy at a clinic near Bologna that could last a couple of weeks in a desperate attempt to regain full fitness.
Cottagers boss Felix Magath is desperate to get him back for the relegation run-in as Fulham sit five points from Premier League safety with just six games remaining.
Magath said last week he hoped Mitroglou would be fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday but the player faces at least two more weeks on the sidelines.
Mitroglou has made just two appearances since moving to Fulham in January which, taking into account the transfer fee and his £40,000-a-week wages, means he has cost Fulham £103,529 for every minute he has played.
