Fulham eye Portuguese defender

Last Updated: Thu, 21 Nov 2013 13:34

Fulham have joined AC Milan, Benfica and Real Betis in the race to snap up Rio Ave's teenage centre back Nelson Monte.

Fulham have been scouting the Portugal Under-19 player in matches against Norway, Luxembourg and San Marino and are understood to have been impressed with the ex-Benfica youth team player.

The Lisbon giants appear to be regretting allowing Monte to leave and have also been tracking him, alongside spies from AC Milan and Real Betis.

The 18-year-old defender has not yet made a senior appearance for Rio Ave who are sitting seventh in the Superliga table.
