Fulham linked to Spanish striker

Fulham are one of several Premier League clubs that have been linked with Benfica's out of favour forward Nolito.

The Cottagers are not short on attacking players at the moment and the reported price tag of £5million looks steep considering the 26-year-old Spaniard has hardly played for the Lisbon club this season - and they clearly want him out.

Nolito, who was signed from Barcelona on a free transfer, was a revelation last season as he scored 15 goals in all competitions for Benfica.

But he has made only one league start under coach Jorge Jesus this season and appears to be on his way out - with the Premier League touted as his next destination.

Liverpool, West Ham and QPR are the other clubs thought to be looking at him in the January transfer window.

Fulham do have a Portugal-based scout and will be well aware of Nolito's situation as Martin Jol assesses whether he needs another forward to maintain his side's challenge for a Europa League spot.
