Fulham in midfielder talks

FulhamFulham star Jimmy Bullard is in talks over a new deal despite admitting he was flattered to be linked with a return to Wigan.

The likeable midfielder came back from a serious knee injury last season to play his part in the Cottagers' last-gasp escape from relegation.

Bullard's form saw him touted for a move back to the JJB but the 29-year-old is instead set to end his career at Craven Cottage.

He told the Wigan Observer: "It's nice to hear that Wigan would want me back - it shows I'm well thought of. But it's the first I've heard of it. Wigan is a great club and have got a great manager.

"But my gaffer [Roy Hodgson] hasn't said anything to me about it."

Bullard added: "I'm in talks at the moment about a new contract. I've got two years to run on my deal and we just thought it was the right time to try and sit down and get a new one sorted.

"Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon."
