An un-named Portuguese club are expected to beat Fulham to the £1.5million signing of Marius Alexe from Dinamo Bucharest.
Fulham were understood to be in talks over a transfer for the 23-year-old forward after watching the Romanian international impress in Wednesday night's 3-0 friendly win over Livingston.
But Dinamo coach George Multescu revealed that a mystery Portuguese bidder was now in pole position to complete the swoop, despite the interest of three teams from England.
"I think and hope that these are the last days and we will get the job done. It is a situation of uncertainty, neither he nor I know what to do. In the next two days it will happen. He was present in the game, made a generous effort.
"He will go to Portugal, but I cannot tell the team name," Multescu said to Look TV.
