Bordeaux's president Jean-Louis Triaud has told Fulham to forget about trying to sign striker target Marouane Chamakh in January.

Triaud has spoken out following reports that the Moroccan international hitman could be on his way out of the club in the New Year after an anticipated summer switch failed to materialise.

Arsenal have long been seen as favourites to sign the 25-year-old while Fulham, West Ham, Spurs and Sunderland have all been linked with moves for him but the French Ligue 1 outfit's supremo claims Chamakh is too important to coach Laurent Blanc's plans to consider allowing him to leave in the middle of the season.

Triaud said: "We are not going to let him go in January. He's an important player for us and he lifts everyone up."
